Commit to Students identifies and supports students-first state and local leaders who are committed to passing data-driven policies that increase Texas’ education attainment and puts more of its residents on a path to economic mobility.
The ultimate objective of education policy debates must be the academic growth and achievement of students. Commit to Students firmly believes that student success should be at the center of all education policy decision-making. We lend our support to officials and policies that uphold this core value, putting students at the forefront of their education agendas.
Texas boasts a wealth of empirical data that provides insights into areas where schools are succeeding and where students face challenges. This information provides a roadmap for accurately diagnosing and addressing the root causes impeding student progress. Commit to Students advocates for policies grounded in empirical evidence, recognizing that data-driven approaches yield superior outcomes for students, educators, and the future of Texas.
What We Champion
Educational Attainment
Commit to Students is a student-first initiative with a clear mission: to ensure that students have the resources they need to meet or exceed grade-level benchmarks. Too many Texas school students are below grade level. We firmly believe in the power of data-driven policies to course correct and improve the lives of students.
Economic Mobility
A quality education places more Texans on a path to economic mobility and prosperity. By 2030, 60% of jobs will require a postsecondary degree, yet only 22% of Texas students earn said degree by age 24. To turn these numbers around, Commit to Students advocates for strategic investments in our education institutions and enacting legislation to help prepare students for life after school.
